Singapore’s Vallianz Holdings has announced a handy $3m profit for the third quarter of 2016, the same day that crew stranded onboard three vessels managed by the company tell reporters they’ve run out of food and water while anchored off Dubai.
The crew onboard Swiber Explorer, Swiber Navigator and Swiber Sandefjord have all been on the vessels for almost nine months despite having only signed three-month contracts with Vallianz Offshore Marine.
While Vallianz has promised to repatriate the 38 seafarers by the end of November, progress appears to have slowed and communication between company and crew have dried up. Monthly food and water supplies, which were due to have been delivered by yesterday, have yet to arrive. In addition, despite bringing crew salaries up-to-date under pressure from this site, Vallianz has failed to pay crew their October salaries, which were due on November 10.
The renewed neglect from the company comes despite Vallianz Offshore Marine CEO Ernest Pow and crewing manager Ken Leow flying to Dubai earlier this month, visiting the crew, and assuring them the company will do all it can for the crew to bring them home.
Today’s announcement from Vallianz of a $3m quarterly profit brings its year-to-date profits to $12m.
Ling Yong Wah, CEO of Vallianz, celebrated the result commenting:
“Notwithstanding the difficult business environment, the group has consistently generated profits for three consecutive quarters this year. To sustain the group’s competitiveness and cement its market position as a leading offshore support vessel provider to one of the largest national oil companies in the Middle East, we will continue to focus on strengthening our core capabilities to deliver operational excellence and value to our customers.”
